revised sketches- hopefully get the final started after this

hey guys, took all the great crits you all gave, and here is the composition i think will do the trick, now here is the matter of the details- should I keep the check? if so where? What about the type choice- for a frame of reference- I am going for a blend of 1960's movie poster with Drew Struzan technique. What about the gesture figures? And color comps?

Thanks guys!

  1. Looking good! I like the abstract shape the characters create. Id keep the check but in Tom's hand. Also, the framing of the check in his hand is tangent with his white shirt, perfectly framed. you might want to have it break his silhouette so it is an easy read and stands out. Another thing that might be cool is have the last arrow in the title break the frame. It would visually mimic the written language if it was actually "escaping" off frame. You can also bring the text over a bit (the "if you can" bit) to the right as if it is fleeing as well. Just some ideasnow lets see some color comps!

  2. Great stuff man. The figures are spot on, though when you work you way to the final pay close attention to the shadow lines on leo. The more lines you have the older he will look. On another note, I don't think the check is nessecary to get your point across. Though it does play a big part in the story line i feel that people who haven't seen the movie won't nessecarily get the reference and on top of that its to busy for the poster style that you have so far. Also thats a lot of empty room in the background. I saw you try to fill that with the check but it doesnt seem to work. Maybe fill it with an airplane taking off or a bank or some movie motif that would fit in. Also one last quick note, be sure to sperate the characters by pushing the values. Okay i lied this is the last note, swearzies. Right now all the blues are kind of merging into one big silhoutte which may or may not be desired. But overall nice. Keep it coming.
